American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid

The American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, individuals who work outdoors, or those who find themselves in remote environments. This course teaches advanced medical skills to be used when professional medical help is far away. This course is taught mostly outside over the course of two days and is approximately 16 hours in length. Upon completion of the course, students will receive an American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid certification valid for 2 years.

Pre-requisite: Students must be at least 14 years old and have a valid Adult CPR/AED certification.

  • Primary and Secondary Patient Assessment

  • Head/Brain, Neck and Spinal injuries

  • Heat Related Emergencies

  • Hypothermia

  • Altitude Related Illness

  • Allergies and Anaphylaxis

  • Burns

  • Bone and Joint Injuries

  • Open wounds and infection

Required Gear
